Escape to an unforgettable getaway from Koh Samui or Koh Phangan with an exclusive overnight stay on the main island of Angthong National Marine Park, Wua Talap.
Island Highlights & Amenities
Facilities: Tourist office, museum, restaurant (open until 10:00 PM), and a beach bar serving fresh coffee (open until 4:00 PM).
Nature & Wildlife: Spot local monkeys, sea turtles, and colorful birds. Explore pristine beaches, hidden lagoons, and fascinating sites like Bua Bok Cave.
Connectivity & Power: Mobile service and internet are available via AIS and TrueMove. While power outages are rare, bringing a flashlight is recommended. (Note: Island lights turn off after 10:00 PM).
Transportation Options & Baggage Guidelines
Daily transport is available from both Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.
General Return Policy: The standard route for all vessels departing from Koh Samui or Koh Phangan is strictly Samui-to-Samui or Phangan-to-Phangan (no island-hopping change available).
High-Season Exception: In rare cases during the high season, a speedboat from Samui might drop passengers off the next day at Koh Phangan—only if there are 10 people booked for a tour from Phangan the following day. Because this is almost never predictable in advance and decided on-the-spot, never rely on this option.
Vessel Details
Big Boat (from Samui): Takes about 1.30 to 1.45 hours. Includes land transfers on Koh Samui.
Baggage: Bring luggage right on board and store it safely on the first deck.
Speedboat (from Samui): Takes about 1 hour.
Baggage: Storage available at the pier. Do not leave valuables inside stored luggage.
Speedboat (from Koh Phangan):
Baggage: Best to leave main luggage safely on Koh Phangan and bring only a small backpack kept on your lap.
Transfer Note: Group land transfers are not available for speedboat tours originating or ending on Koh Phangan. Reach Thong Sala pier independently or request a private transfer for an extra fee.

Step-by-Step Guide: Your Stay
Upon Arrival
Collect Belongings: Grab all gear from the boat. Borrow snorkel equipment by signing it out in the notebook.
Head to Reception: Avoid midday heat by going straight to the museum reception with your guide for check-in.
Relax: Unwind with a drink while day-trip crowds depart, leaving the island to overnight guests.
Exploring the Park
Viewpoint: Hike to the highest viewpoint before sunset for breathtaking panoramic views (suitable for adults and children aged 4+; wear sturdy shoes).
Kayaking: Rent a kayak (300–500 Baht/hour) early in the morning to explore bays and caves away from the crowds.
Caves & Beaches: Visit Bua Bok Cave and quiet secluded beaches during low tide.
Departure Procedure
Check-out Time: Meet your guide between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM at the landing spot.
Return: Arrive back at Koh Samui or Koh Phangan by 4:00–4:30 PM, with hotel drop-off included for Samui or Phangan Big Boat travelers.
Safety & Medical Evacuation Options
Because Angthong Marine Park is a remote natural reserve, it is important to plan for unexpected health emergencies.
Nighttime Restrictions: Speedboats cannot operate at night, meaning standard water transport off the island is unavailable after dark.
Insurance Recommendation: We strongly advise all travelers to purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes emergency helicopter medical evacuation coverage to ensure you can be safely airlifted if an urgent medical crisis arises outside of regular boating hours.
Answer: To date, we have not encountered such instances as our staff always ensures that overnight guests are brought back and are diligent in locating individuals who are not present on.
The Angthong National Park is closed annually from November 1 to December 15. However, it was opened in 2022.

Speed boat — From Koh Phangan
Overview
Escape the daytime crowds with a romantic overnight journey to Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park, an archipelago of 42 protected limestone islands rising dramatically from turquoise waters in the Gulf of Thailand. While most travelers experience this marine sanctuary on a rushed day tour, staying overnight on Koh Wua Ta Lap offers an unhurried, intimate look at the park after the day-trippers have gone.
Departing Koh Phangan by speedboat, the morning begins with an active voyage through the archipelago. Snorkel over coral reefs at Koh Wao or Koh Tay Plaow, where colorful tropical fish congregate along limestone overhangs. Cruise past towering sea cliffs and karst formations toward Koh Mae Ko to visit Talay Nai, the famous Emerald Lake. A trail of wooden stairs leads up to panoramic viewpoints overlooking this saltwater lagoon, completely enclosed by sheer cliffs.
Midday brings you to Koh Sam Sao for a beachfront buffet lunch beneath the shade of tropical trees. Spend the afternoon paddling sea kayaks along limestone coves, swimming in calm waters, or unwinding on the quiet sand. Late in the afternoon, your speedboat transfers you to Koh Wua Ta Lap, the headquarters of the marine park, as the day-trip vessels depart for the mainland.
With the island peaceful and quiet, you can hike the trail to the Pha Chan Charat viewpoint to watch the sunset across all 42 islands, look for dusky leaf monkeys in the forest canopy, and dine under the stars at the park restaurant. Spend the night immersed in nature in a park bungalow or beachfront tent, enjoy an unhurried morning on the beach, and return by speedboat to Koh Phangan the following afternoon.
